Isabelle V. Kerkman

Isabelle Viola Kerkman, daughter of John and Josephine (Lampman) Kuester was born July 13, 1915 at Elgin, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church and attended St. Boniface Schools.

On September 26, 1939, she was united in marriage to Joseph Kerkman at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin. The couple made their home on a farm southeast of Elgin, where she was a homemaker and raised their eight children. In 1981, the couple built a home and moved into town, where she lived until entering the Golden Living Center in Neligh on December 23, 2004.

Isabelle was a member of the St. Boniface Christian Mothers, a life-long member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, and in her earlier years enjoyed going to dances, playing cards and attending the Madison horse races.

She is survived by three sons: Duane Kerkman and wife Sandy of Elgin, NE; Gary Kerkman and wife Diane of Petersburg, NE; Ron Kerkman and wife Kathy of Burwell, NE; four daughters: Geraldine Schafer of Omaha, NE; Janelle Henn of Grand Island, NE; Arlene Borer and husband Harold of Omaha, NE; Jolene White and husband Terry of Bermuda Dunes, CA; 27 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
Isabelle was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph in 1995, son: Lyle Kerkman; two sisters: Irene Henkenius and Luella Kerkman; brother Art Kuester; son-in-law: Jim Schafer.
