(Kuester) Kerkman was born January 1, 1929 in
Tilden, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed
at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin and attended

in 2002. Louie was very active in the church;
leading the rosary before Mass on Sunday mornings,
dedicating time as an usher and volunteering for
various activities with the schools
He enjoyed playing baseball with the Elgin town-team
as a young man and later enjoyed bowling, frequenting
the local coffee shops, attending cattle auctions,
playing cards and pool, and driving around the
countryside. Louie looked forward to attending
all his grandchildren’s sporting events
and cheered the 2007 Pope John Class D-1 State
