In Memory Of
Rudina M. Lautenschlager

Rudina Marie Lautenschlager, daughter of Rudy and Faye (Torpy) Schindler was born November 8, 1927 at Omaha, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church and graduated from Elgin Public High School with the class of 1946.


In October 1946, Rudina was united in marriage to Alvin Tupa Sr. The couple lived at Elgin, NE and later in St. Edward, NE. To this union, two children were born: Alvin Jr. and Kathy. She later married Howard Mickelson in November 1957. They made their home in Elgin and Bartlett, NE. After Howard’s death, Rudina entered into marriage with Wayne Lautenschlager on January 27, 1981. The couple resided in Elgin, and later moved to Orchard, NE.


Rudina was a 51 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Elgin Historical Society, and the O’Neill Sandhills China Painting Club.


She is survived by 1 son: Alvin Tupa Jr. and wife Gloria of Lincoln; 1 daughter: Kathy Oberg and husband Randy of Waverly; 4 step-daughters: Joyce Cameron and friend Bill Petsche of Neligh; Mary Ann McCain of Grand Island; Jenelle Erb and husband Terry of Orchard; Carma Shawger and husband Kip of Muncie, IN; 5 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 18 step-great grandchildren; 1 sister: Grace McDowell of Denver, CO; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.


Rudina was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard Mickelson, husband Wayne Lautenschlager, son: William Ray Mickelson; and sister: Mary Ellen McGee.
