Anthony Frank Seier, son of Anton and Rose (Mescher)
Seier was born March 14, 1926 in Petersburg, Nebraska.
He was baptized and confirmed at St. John the
Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, attended
St. John’s Catholic Elementary School and
graduated from St. John’s Catholic High
School with the class of 1944.
After graduation, he joined the United States
Army Infantry and served during World War II in
the European Theater. After receiving his honorable
discharge, returned to the Petersburg area to
farm with his father.
Tony was united in marriage to Margaret Mary Schmitz
on August 18, 1952 at St. John the Baptist Catholic
Church in Petersburg. The couple made their home
one mile north of Petersburg where Anthony farmed
until retiring in 2000, when they moved into Petersburg.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and
spending time with his children, grandchildren,
and great-grandchildren. He was a life-long member
of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and American
Legion Post 334 of Petersburg.
Anthony is survived by his wife Margaret of Petersburg;
9 children: Rosella (Sally) Draper and husband
Stanley of Hickman; Richard Seier of Hoskins;
Judith Frazier and husband Dave of Greeley, CO;
Paul Seier and wife Shawn of Petersburg; Charles
Seier and wife Patty of Greeley, CO; Roy Seier
and wife Lisa of Fremont; Glen Seier of Lincoln;
Dale Seier and wife Maureen of Denver, CO; Jeff
Seier and wife Jill of Spencer, IA; 26 grandchildren;
4 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings: Joe Seier and
wife Connie of Petersburg; Melvina Schmitz of
Albion; Rose Marie Pelster and husband Donald
of Petersburg; and Mary Ann Borer of Albion; 1
sister-in-law: Lorraine Seier of Petersburg, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 infant
siblings: Delbert and Lorraine; 2 brothers: Max
Seier and Delmer Seier; 2 brother-in-laws: Albert
Schmitz and Ervin Borer.
