In Memory Of
Loretta E. Schmitz

Loretta Elizabeth Schmitz, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Preusser Klein was born on September 17, 1914 at Groom, Texas. At the age of 5, she moved to Petersburg, Nebraska with her family where she spent her youth north of Raeville. She received her education at St. John Berchmans School at Raeville, Nebraska.


On January 12, 1949 she was married to Joe Schmitz at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church at Raeville. They made their home in Petersburg where she was a member of St. John’s Catholic church and Christian Mothers.


Joe died on January 21, 1996. In 2005 Loretta moved to Albion where she lived at Samaritan Estates. She later entered the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Home where she died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the age of 94.


Loretta is survived by five sisters: Alfreda Pelster of Bartlett, NE; Arlene Jochum of Sutherland, NE; Delores Bode of Petersburg, NE; Reola Pelster & husband Lawrence of Petersburg, Ne; Betty Mannlein & husband Don of Albion, NE; along with many other relatives and friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, an infant daughter Jo Ann, three sisters and two brothers.
