In Memory Of

Margaret Ann Pelster Schrage, daughter of Joseph and Anna (Uphoff) Pelster, was born January 23, 1914 at Raeville, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Bonaventure Church in Raeville and received her education from St. John Berchman School in Raeville, graduating with the first four-year class in 1932.

She went to California in 1934 where she worked as a nanny and also in a walnut factory. In 1938, she married Hubert Schrage. They lived in California for a short time before returning to the Elgin community to farm. Later, they moved to Idaho for a few years before returning to their farm near Elgin in 1951. They continued to live on the farm until retirement when they moved to town. Hubert passed away in 1987 and Margaret continued living in her home until entering the Golden Living Center in May 2010.

Margaret was a firm supporter of Pope John High School and St. Boniface Schools, receiving the Roncalli Award in 2003 for making a significant contribution to the long term advancement of the school. She was a member of the St. Boniface Alter Society and a lifetime member of the Elgin Garden Club. Margaret and Hubert loved to square dance and both enjoyed all of their nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Cyril Pelster; Joseph Pelster and wife Delores; two sisters: Marie Moser and husband Leonard; Florentine Vanderheiden and husband Burt; and a brother-in-law Leonard Meis.
Margaret is survived by her sisters: Sally Meis of Petersburg; Ann (Vic) Borer of Albion; sister-in-law: Viola Pelster of Elgin; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.
