May C. Sturek

May C. Sturek, daughter of Sanford Saunders and Eva May (Hayes) Clark was born September 9, 1906 in rural Greeley County, NE. She was a member of Cedar Valley Church, attended elementary school at Cedar Valley School in rural Wheeler County and graduated from Ericson High School in 1926. She attended college at Quaker College in Central City, NE and Kearney State College.

On November 29, 1929, she was united in marriage to Henry Sturek at Sutherland, NE. The couple made their home on a ranch north of Bartlett, NE. May taught school at rural Wheeler County schools for 3 years and later as a housewife caring for her children.

May was a member of the Clover Blossom Club, St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, St. Theresa’s Alter Society, and sat on the Election Board for many years. She was the Flower Superintendent at the Wheeler County Fair. She was involved in 4-H and actively supported high school athletics; especially watching her grandsons play football.

She is survived by three daughters: Patricia Swain-Powers and husband George of Sun City, AZ; Barbara Day of Bartlett, NE; Sandra Urban of Ericson, NE; eight grandchildren; ___ great-grandchildren; ___great-great-grandchildren.

May was preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry in 1994; infant twins; three sons-in-law: Donald Swain, Lester Day, and Edward Urban; granddaughter: Pamela Inderlied; two grandchildren-in-law: Kathleen Day and Timothy Kavorik.
