Geraldine E. "Jeri" Taylor


Geraldine Eloise Taylor, daughter of Arthur L. and Leona A. (Herley) Johnson was born September 23, 1922 at her parents farm 8 miles west and 4 miles north of Elgin, NE. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith, and was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Clearwater, until joining Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin in 1959. She attended elementary school at School District 100 and graduated from Clearwater High School in 1940. She graduated from Wayne State College with a teaching degree and later, furthered her education at Dana College.

On August 15, 1946, She was united in marriage to Vincent H. Taylor at Neligh, NE. The couple lived in rural Clearwater and later moved to Elgin, NE in 1959. Jeri taught school in several rural schools, was a seamstress, and also provided daycare services.

Jeri died Friday, May 16, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh at the age of 85.

She is survived by 3 daughters: Vickie Iburg and husband Dale of Denver, CO; Sally Taylor of Honolulu, HI; Gwen Kinney and husband Richard of Elgin, NE; 2 grandchildren: Kimberley (Iburg) Rosenbohm and husband Jim of Omaha, NE; Kyle Taylor of New York, NY; 2 great-granddaughters: Taylor Grace and Regan James Rosenbohm of Omaha, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother and sister-in-law: Delno and Mildred Johnson; son-in-law: Leonard Iburg.
