In Memory Of
Ernest G. Uhrenholdt

Ernest G. Uhrenholdt, son of Alfred and Laura Uhrenholdt, was born March 22, 1924. He passed away at Boone County Health Center on May 2, 2008. He lived on various farms in Clearwater, Ewing, and Elgin, moving to his present farm in 1938, where he farmed with his father. He was a farmer and cattle feeder on the farm until he retired. He attended Swede school, Park Center, and graduated from Elgin Public High School in 1941. He then attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and was in ROTC. He returned home to assist his father in farming as it was wartime.

He was confirmed at Clearwater Rural Lutheran Church, riding several miles on horseback to attend confirmation classes. After moving to the Elgin area he became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was active from his early 20’s in the church, holding all the various offices.

On May 26, 1950 he married Maxine Nissen at Trinity Lutheran. They resided on their farm and have lived there for almost 58 years. To this union were born their sons, Richard, David, and Dale. During the ensuing years Ernest was active in many organizations. He was a member of District 97 School Board, served on the township board, was involved in Farm Bureau, 4-H Club, and Production Credit Association. He last served on the League of Human Dignity Board at Lincoln, but had to resign because of ill health.

He loved his seven grandchildren dearly and enjoyed their visits and phone calls in recent years. He became a proud great-grandfather of twin boys in April, 2007.

He is survived by his sons Richard (Donna) of Elgin, Dr. David (Sylvera) Holdt of Scottsbluff, and Dale of Elgin; grandchildren Heath Uhrenholdt of San Antonio, Carissa (Jeremy) Thelander of Lincoln, Rachel Uhrenholdt of Lincoln, Dana Uhrenholdt of Lincoln, Dr. Adam Holdt of Denver, Alex Holdt of Scottsbluff, and Sarah Holdt of Lincoln; great-grandchildren Brayden and Connor Thelander of Lincoln; sister Dorothy Sindel of St. Louis; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gunnar and Harry, sister Mary Olsen, and brother-in-law Kenny Sindel.
Memorials are suggested to the League of Human Dignity in Lincoln, Nebraska.
