Irene E. Wilkinson

Irene Elizabeth Wilkinson, daughter of Bernard and Teresa (Tunink) Von Bonn was born November 5, 1920 at Petersburg, NE. She was baptized at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE, attended St. John’s Catholic School and graduated from the eighth grade at St. Boniface Catholic School in Elgin, NE.


On December 31, 1941, she was united in marriage with Max Wilkinson at Elgin, NE. They made their home southwest of Elgin, NE until moving northwest of Elgin in 1961. She was a housewife and raised their children. In 2007, she moved into Elgin where she resided until entering the Golden Living Center in Neligh, NE in February 2010.


Irene was a member of the “Out Our Way” club, enjoyed playing bingo and loved bowling.
She passed away Sunday at the Boone County Health Center in Albion, NE at the age of 89.


Irene is survived by four children: Ron Wilkinson and wife Sharon of Elgin, NE; Max Wilkinson Jr. (Bud) and wife Teresa of Elgin, NE; Dean Wilkinson and wife Linda of Oakdale, NE; Lois Buffington and husband Alan of Ft. Collins, CO; 1 daughter-in-law: Sharon Wilkinson of Elgin, NE; 1 sister: Sally Wood of Colorado Springs, CO; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Max in 1989; son Gary; daughter Patsy; grandson Randy; three sisters and two brothers.
